Hey beautiful people,
I really want to share some special moments with you. I've been reflecting and I realised that I haven't shared much of my work. As a private person, I find it difficult to fully put myself out there, even when it comes to my photography.
It's not that I fear peoples judgement, but sometimes I catch myself thinking "If i post this will anyone care ? Will this inspire anyone ?"
These days, what I post on social media is mainly to attract new clients, showcase my work and demonstrate what I'm capable of. We're the generation of instant gratification, where attention fades quickly. You can post something amazing, and within a few days, it's forgotten.
Personally, I'd much rather create an exhibition or publish a book. I want my work to live on and have lasting value, to be cherished and appreciated for years to come. My goal is to become a renowned photographer whose work leaves a legacy. I believe blogging allows me to connect with you more deeply and hold myself accountable. Once I've built a strong enough following, I'll be ready to publish books and take my work to the next level.
So, let's take a trip back to 2022, where I captured some amazing content that never made it to social media. I'm excited to finally share some of them with you.
Titile: Qoy Laawl postcast.
Year taken: 2022
Summary: Capturing a podcast for a youtube show.
Special guests: Ovie Soko, Chuckie Online, Uche Natorie, Tazer Black, Margs, Tolly T and more...
Lesson learned: Chuckie Online was someone I had on my vision board, having followed his HC podcast since 2017. To my surprise, I got the opportunity to capture him, making it a full circle moment. Unfortunately, the podcast hasn't been released yet due to audio issues, which is a reminder that sometimes projects don't see the light of day. As a photographer, though, I'm proud of these images and I am happy to share them here. I just wish more people could see them, as it would really help open doors for more work.
Title: Solo trip Birthday to Jamaica
Year taken: 2022
Summary: I did a solo trip to Jamaica for my birthday and had the chance to connect with professional photographer Nicki Kane and influencer TaiJah Mills. I also made some great friends at the RIU resort and captured some amazing shots of them. It was the perfect way to meet new people while traveling alone. I stayed for 11days, and it turned out to be one of the best birthdays I've ever had. I treated myself, and everything aligned and fell into place.
Special guests: Nicki Kane and TaiJah Mills
Lesson learned: Put yourself first.
Title: Rankin Studios
Year taken: 2022
Summary: UK Black females photographer group had the opportunity to visit Rankins studio. Rankin is a renowned British celebrity photographer who has taken images of Queen Elizabeth II, Madonna, Spice girls, Naomi capbell and many more. He has also done campaigns for brands such as Nike, Dove and L'Oreal. We visited him in his studio and had the opportunity to use Hasselblad ( £7000 camera) to shoot a subject, he also gave us some gems, we had snacks and then he took pictures of us and then we had a group image.
Special guests: Rankin
Lesson learned: This was honestly one of my favourite days ever. I've always dreamed of owning my own studio and photographing celebrity portraits, and in that moment, I knew it was possible. I'm glad I'm writing this because I'd almost forgotten about that feeling, and I really need to stay focused on making that dream of having my own studio a reality.
Title: Justice Maxwell
Year taken: 2022
Summary: Collaboration with Travel influencer Justice Maxwell,
Lesson learned: When collaborating, always choose a model/person who has a sense of style or is fashionable. Justice style really helped bring this shoot to life. We had so much fun on set!!
Title: Asian Wedding
Year taken: 2022
Summary: My first asian wedding
Lesson learned: Don't mix friendship with business. Especially when they tell you it's an engagement ceremony, but turns out to be a traditional wedding. The aftermath was terrible and I was told my images were terrible and unprofessional. (Thanks) They look nice to me ?
